In the last twenty years, our society became every day more and more aware of our need to keep a healthy life. Many people are now seriously engaged on physical care and appropriate nourishment. However, we often neglect our eyes health. Our eyes deserve protection as much as our skin does and some simple regular exams can prevent against illnesses which might also affect our general health. Let me show some tips on how to keep your eyes bright and sane:

Prevention

Modern people concern a lot about preventing diseases, that’s fact. We take vaccines against contagious illnesses. We have vitamins to keep flu away from us. We wear sunscreens to avoid skin cancer. Now, what we do to prevent eye problems and make our sight stronger? Eye health is something most of the people only concern about when they start to have headache and it’s too hard to read small prints, something that could be easily avoided with yearly check ups.

UV Ray Protection.

The hazard of having the skin overly exposed to UV radiation has been stressed in the media for quite a while, but only a little time ago people started to understand it’s also very dangerous to the eyes. The best way to avoid eyes illnesses caused by the UV rays such as cataracts and macular degeneration is to wear quality sunglasses with 100% UV protection every time you are exposed to the sun.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is highly beneficial to the prevention of eye illnesses. Supplements, fruits and vegetables can provide the necessary amount of it you need to keep your eyes sane.

Smoking

Medical researches proved that smoking is largely associated with some very serious eyes diseases. If you really want to keep your eyes health, no better time to quit!

Healthy nourishment

Your overall body health also affects the state of your vision. A diet rich on vegetables, fruits and fish will decisively reduce the chances of developing eyes disease. Exercises will not only help you to keep in shape and avoid heart conditions. It will also prevent and control the diabetes that has serious eyes problems as one of its consequences.

We all long for increasing our life quality by keeping a healthy life and that’s why we shouldn’t overlook our eye health. Some simple measures we can take to increase our sighting are: avoiding long hours in front of the computer without a break and visiting the ophthalmologist at least once a year for a check up.
